Some weddings are beautiful. Some are high energy. And some are full scale productions that feel cinematic from start to finish. Madelyn and Cobin’s September 6th celebration at Rosecliff in Newport, Rhode Island was exactly that!
From a classical ceremony with live choir to a completely packed DJ hybrid dance floor, this was a seamless, start to finish musical experience layered intentionally throughout the entire day!
The Setting: Rosecliff, Newport Rhode Island
If you have never experienced Rosecliff, it is one of Newport’s most iconic Gilded Age mansions. With sweeping ocean views, dramatic architecture, and a ballroom designed for large scale celebrations, the property naturally lends itself to elevated, immersive wedding production.
The ceremony lawn feels regal and expansive. The reception space inside is grand, detailed, and acoustically perfect for live music. It is a venue that rewards thoughtful musical design and big vision!

The Ceremony: Classical Quartet + Surprise Eight Piece Choir
We began with a traditional classical quartet for guest seating, setting an elegant and timeless tone against the ocean backdrop.
The bridal party walked down the aisle to “Rondeau” by Jean Joseph Mouret, performed live by the quartet. The stately, triumphant energy paired beautifully with the scale of the mansion and the setting!
Madelyn made her entrance to “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. There is something about live strings performing this piece that never loses its emotional impact. With the Atlantic behind her and Cobin waiting at the altar, it was one of those moments that felt suspended in time!
And then came the surprise!
Mid ceremony, an eight piece choir appeared from the parking area, completely hidden from guests beforehand. As they emerged, they joined the quartet in a powerful live performance of “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield. The shift from classical to contemporary was intentional, uplifting, and electric! Guests were visibly stunned in the best way possible!
This was ceremony production done with intention. Elegant first. Unexpected second. Impactful all the way through!
Cocktail Hour: Jazz Trio Energy
Following the ceremony, we transitioned into cocktail hour with saxophone, trumpet, and keyboard performing jazz classics and upbeat favorites.
This trio configuration created warmth and personality while still allowing space for conversation. It kept the energy building as guests moved from lawn to reception.
For Madelyn and Cobin’s grand entrance, the jazz trio performed “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne live. It was soulful, celebratory, and the perfect way to introduce them into the next chapter of the night!
Dinner: Strings Return
As guests were seated in the ballroom, our classical quartet returned for dinner service. Rosecliff’s interior demands something refined, and live strings in that room feel natural and elevated.
The continuity from ceremony to dinner created cohesion across the day while allowing the energy to reset before the dance floor officially opened.
Reception: DJ Hybrid with Live Horns
When it was time to party, we shifted into full DJ hybrid mode with DJ, live saxophone, and live trumpet!
This format delivers the range and flexibility of a DJ while preserving the electricity and spontaneity of live musicians. In a ballroom like Rosecliff’s, that combination feels massive in the best way!
The dance floor was completely packed!
Some standout moments included
“Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake
“Marry You” by Bruno Mars
“Palmdale” and “Crazy Rap” by Afroman
And closing the night with “Forever” by Chris Brown!
From singalongs to horn driven drops, the energy escalated naturally throughout the evening. No lulls. No awkward transitions. Just continuous momentum and a crowd that did not want the night to end!
A Fully Curated Musical Experience
What made Madelyn and Cobin’s wedding exceptional wasn’t just the scale, it was the layering.
Classical quartet for ceremony and dinner
Eight-piece surprise choir
Jazz trio for cocktail hour
DJ hybrid with live horns for reception
Each segment had its own identity while still feeling cohesive across the full day.
At a venue like Rosecliff, production matters. Sound placement matters. Transitions matter. The property is grand and the music has to match it.
This wedding did exactly that.
Madelyn and Cobin created a day that felt timeless, cinematic, and completely their own and Rosecliff provided the perfect Newport backdrop for it all.
