Kristen & Jim | A Playful, Joyful Winter Wedding at the Boston Public Library
When we look back through galleries from the weddings we’ve been part of, one of the things we love most is seeing how much of each couple’s personality comes through in the photos.
Every couple is different. Every wedding has its own energy.
For Kristen and Jim, two words came to mind from our very first conversation with them: playful and joyful.
And those two characteristics were present throughout their entire wedding day, from the ceremony through the last dance.
Set in the iconic Boston Public Library during the winter, their celebration was elegant, warm, and full of personality.
A Classic Boston Ceremony
The day began in the Tea Room on the first floor of the McKim Building, where our DJ provided the music for the ceremony.
Kristen and Jim chose a mix of timeless classics that felt completely at home in the Boston Public Library. Their wedding party processed to Frank Sinatra’s “It Had to Be You,” setting the tone right away. Then came Kristen, walking down the aisle to the classic “Here Comes the Bride.”
After the ceremony, the couple recessed to a beautiful piano arrangement of the Wedding March, heading joyfully into cocktail hour.

Cocktails, Sinatra, and L-O-V-E
Cocktail hour took place throughout the Map Room and Tea Room, with the music continuing the classic, romantic feel of the day.
The soundtrack included “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole, “The Way You Look Tonight,” and plenty of Sinatra.
It was the perfect music for the setting: sophisticated without feeling overly formal, familiar without feeling predictable, and completely in keeping with Kristen and Jim’s personality.
Turning Up the Energy
Then it was time to head into the Gustavino Room.
This is where the energy really shifted.
Our DJ was joined by live saxophone and trumpet, with uplighting throughout the room creating a completely different atmosphere for the reception.
Kristen and Jim made their entrance to “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield, which felt like the perfect choice for them: upbeat, fun, and full of personality.
And they didn't waste much time getting onto the dance floor.
Their first dance was “Diamonds or Twine” by Ryan Hurd, followed by a reception that quickly turned into the kind of party every band and DJ hopes for: a packed dance floor, an energetic crowd, and guests who were ready to have a great time.
A Wedding That Felt Like Them
What we loved most about Kristen and Jim’s wedding wasn't just how beautiful the Boston Public Library looked or how incredible the music sounded.
It was how them the entire celebration felt.
From Sinatra during the ceremony and cocktails to a live DJ Hybrid setup in the Gustavino Room, every part of the music helped tell the story of the couple.
Playful. Joyful. Elegant. High energy.
Those qualities were there from our very first conversation with Kristen and Jim, and they stayed with us all the way through the last dance.
