Q&A with Event Specialist Amanda
Meet Amanda, our resident Event Specialist. She works with our couples and clients to create the best day possible. With a keen eye for detail, and years of experience behind her, Amanda is amazing at managing logistics and pre-event nerves.
Q: Do I need a microphone at my ceremony?
A: Consider having a microphone at the ceremony for your officiant and anyone else involved.
Your wedding is such a special day, it’d be a shame if your guests couldn’t hear what was being said during the ceremony! I recommend microphones for every outdoor ceremony and any indoor ceremony with 100 guests or more. Check with your venue and officiant to see if they provide their own PA system. If they don’t, consider renting a microphone and speaker from one of your other vendors.
Q: Should I have a DJ or a singer at my cocktail hour?
A: Opt for instrumental music rather than songs with lyrics/vocalists.
The cocktail hour is when your guests socialize. Ever been to a bar where the band is too loud and you can’t talk? Unlike reception where you want people to dance, the music during cocktail hour should be in the background. Instrumental music, such jazz or string ensembles, provides that perfect balance of ambience and entertainment.
Q: When should my formalities happen?
A: Front load the formalities at the beginning of your reception.
I recommend having all formal dances and toasts take place within the first hour or so of the reception (minus the cake of course). This way, when the floor opens, the pressure is off and you’re free to dance the night away!
Q: Sometimes I’m just not sure what I want!
A: When in doubt, ask away! I’ve seen it all and I’m happy to answer any questions.
You’re not in this alone and I want to make the planning process as easy for you as possible. Not sure which song would sound best on violin? Send me the songs you’re considering and I’ll work with our musical director to provide expertise. Not sure when to have your cake cutting? Based on the flow of your event and our experience at past events, I can make some recommendations. I’m here to help your celebration come to life.

The holiday season is a time to celebrate, connect, and create memorable experiences. For any corporate event planner, office manager, or event organizer, adding live music to a holiday party can set the tone, elevate the atmosphere, and ensure everyone feels the spirit of the season.
But with so many musical options, how do you know which type of ensemble will best match your event size and vibe? Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right live music for your holiday gathering, whether you’re planning an intimate soiree or a large-scale celebration.
Choosing between a DJ and a live band for your wedding is a big decision that can set the tone for your entire celebration. Both options have their unique advantages, and the right choice depends on your personal taste, budget, and the overall vibe you want for your special day.
Planning a wedding involves countless details and decisions, from choosing the perfect cake to coordinating with countless vendors. At SpeechLess Music, we understand the importance of seamless coordination, specifically when it comes to music. Our goal is to make the music planning and song selection process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here’s how we do it:
Planning a wedding is a monumental task that involves countless details, decisions, and coordination. At SpeechLess Music, we specialize in providing live music to make your wedding day unforgettable, but we often encounter questions about our role in the broader wedding planning process. While our Musical Planner is an essential part of creating the perfect atmosphere with the right soundtrack, it’s important to understand the distinction between our services and those of a wedding coordinator.
Giving a speech at a wedding is a significant honor and you’ll want to make sure your words are heard loud and clear.
Most of us don’t have a lot of experience using microphones but with a crowd of a hundred or more people, a microphone is essential. So, how can you use a microphone effectively?
At SpeechLess, we're here to help guide you through this decision-making process, ensuring that your vows and meaningful words are heard loud and clear. Let's explore why opting for a microphone can be the key to a seamless and unforgettable ceremony.
Among the various corporate events that punctuate the calendar, none quite establishes the ethos of your company culture like the annual holiday party. While food and drinks are staples at these gatherings, the key to making your corporate event truly extraordinary lies in the realm of entertainment. We firmly believe that nothing shapes the ambiance and sets the tone more effectively than a captivating musical performance. Music, after all, permeates the air, becoming an integral part of the overall experience.
Other than your fiance, the DJ you book for your wedding reception is your most crucial +1. Our DJs come with more than a laptop and a playlist. They come with years of musical education, and the turntable is just one of the instruments in their repertoire. You’ll never catch our DJs distracting your guests with rhetorical questions, or provoking them to dance while they cue the Cha Cha Slide (how about cue audible cringe?). Our DJ’s unique mixes and mash-ups will speak for themselves. A great DJ knows how to be SpeechLess, while creating an unforgettable soundtrack and vibe that will naturally draw your attendees to the dance floor - and keep them there all night long.
